I am Airius, leader of the Airidian
movement on Planet Polluto. My fellow Pollutonians don't realize
we have a severe ozone air pollution problem. In fact, many
of them don't even realize they contribute to our poor air quality
because of the cars they drive, their personal habits, the way
they get to school and work -- even the way they plan our cities.
All of these bad decisions add up to a big problem on our planet.
But, if the people of Earth can help us learn how to solve our
problems, we can all breathe easier.
What You Can Do to Help
Learn all you can about ozone air pollution by exploring this site,
sparetheair.com and at smogcity.com. Once you're armed with the
knowledge you need to improve air quality on Planet Polluto, follow
my Clean Air Tips to help improve the air you and your family breathe
day after day.
Your individual actions to reduce air pollution may not seem like
a lot - but if everyone does just a little, it all adds up to cleaner
air!
Things you can do to Spare The Air on Earth
When it's time to put air in your bike tires remind
mom and dad to check the car's tire pressure. A car that is properly
maintained helps reduce air pollution.
Remind mom and dad to fill up their gas tank in
the evening hours instead of during the day. This way, gasoline
vapors won't mix with sunlight to produce air pollution.
Check the AQI everyday and share the information
with mom or dad. It's usually listed in the local paper or you can
visit sparetheair.com. For fun, record the AQI for a week and see
how it changes.
Remember carpooling to school is a good way to
reduce air pollution. If you can walk to school safely with a friend
or parent that is even better!
Highest air pollution levels usually occur in
the afternoon just when you are getting out of school. If air pollution
is making it hard for you to breathe or you just don't feel good,
take it easy and play inside instead.
